SWC 2022 Executive Officers meet with Archbishop of Seoul

February 16, 2022 (SIGNIS Asia). Mr Daniel Han Seung-su and executive officers of the SIGNIS World Congress 2022 Organizing Committee made an official call on His Excellency Peter CHUNG Soon-Taick, O.C.D., Archbishop of Seoul, on February 16, 2022. Archbishop Chung is a joint Honorary President of SWC 2022 with Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung. 

Mr Han extended his deep gratitude to the utmost support of the Seoul Archdiocese and briefly reported the preparation of SWC 2022, especially on its metaverse platform. He also emphasized that the SWC Organizing Committee has tried to seek a way to evangelize in this pandemic situation through the virtual space in this digital era. 

Archbishop Jung mentioned that the Seoul Archdiocese has tried to seek a way to evangelize the youth on the metaverse via its youth department. Also, he encouraged the effort of preparing all members and said to support the SWC 2022.

Last October 2021, Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Peter Chung Soon-Taick as the new Archbishop of Seoul and the apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Pyongyang. Archbishop Chung took office on December 8 after Cardinal Yeom, a joint Honorary President of SWC 2022.

The SWC 2022 will be held virtually and in person, from August 15 to 18, 2022, at the Sogang University in Seoul. The list of visitors is Mr Daniel Han Seung-soo, President, Mr Gabriel Kim Chang-ock, vice President, Mr Francis Kim Seung-wal, General Director, Mr Paul Back Seung-woong, Secretary.
