SIGNIS Launches “Wisdom Calls” to Amplify the Voices of Religious Sisters Across Three Continents

SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication, is launching a pioneering initiative called Wisdom Calls — a programme designed to help religious sisters share their mission and stories with a broader, increasingly digital audience.

The initiative will run simultaneously across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, aiming to bridge the gap between religious women and Catholic media professionals. At its heart, the project seeks to build lasting communication networks and equip sisters with the tools and confidence to tell their stories in compelling, contemporary ways.

The Asia edition will take place from 8 to 10 May 2026 at the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) in Bangkok, Thailand. Participants are expected to arrive on 7 May. Over three days, attendees will engage in expert-led sessions on storytelling, media production, and cross-border narratives, as well as collaborative workshops to develop and refine their own story ideas.

Guest speakers will address topics such as what mainstream media and streaming platforms look for in global storytelling, and how the media constructs and delivers stories to audiences. Sisters will also have the opportunity to present individual and collaborative projects, with space for open dialogue and feedback.

The program’s broader goals include documenting best practices in community-centered communication, fostering sustainable networks between sisters and Catholic media professionals, and contributing insights to the upcoming SIGNIS World Congress, scheduled for 3–8 August 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda.

Religious sisters in Asia interested in participating may express their interest by email before 6 April 2026 at: [email protected].

Wisdom Calls represents a meaningful step toward ensuring that the voices and missions of religious women are heard not only within Church communities but across the wider world.
