A beacon of hope | Radio Hekima, Tanzania | Episode 1| Inspiring Hope

Nestled within the diocese of Mbinga stands a beacon of hope and resilience: Radio Hekima, the region’s inaugural Catholic radio station.

As the result of a long-held dream of H.E. Bishop John Ndimbo, Radio Hekima emerged in early 2020 after years of dedicated efforts dating back to 2013. Despite the daunting challenges of acquiring permits and navigating treacherous terrains en route to Mbinga, Bishop Ndimbo and his team remained resolute in their mission, aware of the transformative impact it would have on their community.

The name of the radio station, Hekima, means “wisdom” in the local language and it was chosen to embody virtues of benevolence, compassion, and enlightenment. In the past four years that it has been on air, Radio Hekima has built a reputation of being a trustworthy, timely and innovative radio station, broadcasting shows that talk about education, environmental consciousness, human rights, healthcare, cultural diversity, female empowerment, youth engagement, sports, entertainment, and comprehensive news coverage. Its overarching mission? To reach and uplift every facet of Tanzanian society, from the youngest to the eldest, from rural farmers to influential leaders.

Radio Hekima remains steadfast in its commitment to catalyzing social and economic development within local communities, fostering a deeper connection to societal justice and peace.
