PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival Applications are open

75 years after the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the urgency of combatting racism and racial discrimination remains. In a world often characterized by intolerance and cultural divisions, the PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival recognizes youth as powerful agents of social change and empowers them to share their creative vision with the world and foster respect for diversity.

Launched in 2009, PLURAL+ is a joint initiative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the International Organization for Migrations (IOM), with a network of more than 50 partner organizations around the globe that includes SIGNIS.

According to Mathew Hodes, Director UNAOC; “PLURAL+ videos provide powerful narratives that help advance this critical conversation on how to build more inclusive societies where we can all live together in harmony”.

Young people up to 25 years old are invited to submit short videos of five minutes maximum in length on challenges and opportunities related to social inclusion and cohesion, migrant integration, respect for identity, diversity and human rights both at local and global levels. Entries must be sent before May 31, 2024.

This 2024, in addition to the International Jury Distinctions across three age categories (Up to 12 years old; 13 to 17 years old and 18 to 25 years old), IOM and UNAOC will confer two Special Recognitions: the Special Recognition for Combating Xenophobia and Discrimination and the Special Recognition for Inclusive Action on Climate Migration. Selected short films will be showcased at the Annual PLURAL+24 call for video submissions.
