Global Catholic Climate Movement launches ‘Lent 2021: A Journey of Hope’

(Global Catholic Movement). Lent is a time of preparation for Easter and the celebration of the Paschal Mystery. It can be for many Christians the most important time to reflect on one’s relationship with God and how we are living our faith.

During this time of fasting and renewal, the thousands of communities that make up the Global Catholic Climate Movement will embark upon a journey of ecological conversion through reflection, repentance, and renewal. Together.

Facing a worsening ecological crisis and climate emergency, Catholics worldwide will acknowledge that they have ruptured their relationship with creation, and they’ll express sorrow for their actions.

But by committing to concrete changes, Catholics will reduce their ecological footprint and inspire their sisters and brothers around the world to join this conversion process.

Catholics and communities taking part in #LaudatoSiLent will receive weekly reminders and ideas about how they can live this journey of ecological conversion, including opportunities to connect with others through retreats, webinars, and prayer services.

They’ll also find suggested activities on the Lenten calendar. Each week will feature a “mini-fast” – buying fast, meat fast, plastics fast, electricity fast, fast from silence – that will help everyone reduce their ecological footprint and reflect on their relationship with God and all creation.

Catholics are especially encouraged to go through #LaudatoSiLent with friends. They’re warmly invited to join an already existing Laudato Si’ Circle, small groups that meet regularly to deepen their relationship with God as Creator and all of creation, or to start one today.

“Social problems must be addressed by community networks and not simply by the sum of individual good deeds…  The ecological conversion needed to bring about lasting change is also a community conversion” (Laudato Si’ 217).

Help inspire our sisters and brothers around the world. Join Laudato Si’ Lent.
