New Delhi, 7 August 2026 (CBCI) — Bishop Rayarala Vijaya Kumar, PIME, Chairman of the CBCI (Conference of Catholic Bishops of India) Office for Social Communications and Ecclesiastical Advisor of SIGNIS India, has congratulated Dr. Magimai Pragasam on his election as Vice President of SIGNIS World, calling it a significant moment for the Church in India and the global Catholic communication community.
Bishop Vijaya Kumar said the election recognizes Dr. Pragasam’s decades of service and leadership in faith-based communication. “Dr. Magimai Pragasam’s election as Vice President of SIGNIS World is a source of pride for the Church in India. His experience and commitment to Catholic communications will strengthen SIGNIS’s global mission of promoting ethical, human-centred communication,” he said.
He also congratulated the newly elected SIGNIS World Board of Directors, expressing confidence that the new leadership will guide the organization in fostering dialogue, justice, and effective communication across cultures.
Bishop Vijaya Kumar prayed for the President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary General, and other Board members as they lead the World Catholic Association for Communication amid the challenges of an increasingly digital media landscape.
The CBCI Office for Social Communications joined Catholic communicators across India in marking the milestone and pledged its support to the new SIGNIS World leadership.
Dr. Pragasam’s election reflects India’s growing role in global Catholic communications and the increasing presence of Indian professionals in international church media leadership.
