NEW DELHI, INDIA — SIGNIS India will convene a webinar examining the transformative impact and ethical implications of generative artificial intelligence on Thursday, 16 October 2025, at 7:00 p.m. IST.
The online event, part of the organization’s Media Menu series, will explore how AI tools that generate text, images, audio, and video are reshaping communication across journalism, education, and faith-based media initiatives.
Rev. Dr. Plavendran Irudayasamy of the Society of St. Paul will deliver the keynote address. Dr. Irudayasamy brings extensive credentials to the discussion, including a doctorate in media studies from the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome, a master’s degree in journalism and communication from the University of Madras, and specialized training in mass communication and information technology.
The Society of St. Paul has maintained a longstanding focus on media and communications ministry, positioning Dr. Irudayasamy to address both technical and pastoral dimensions of the technology.
Organizers indicate the webinar will provide an accessible overview suitable for both media professionals and students. The session will address current capabilities of generative AI, anticipated developments, and the complex regulatory landscape emerging around the technology.
Particular emphasis will be placed on critical concerns, including misinformation risks, questions of authorship and intellectual property, privacy protections, and strategies for promoting media literacy within religious and civil society frameworks.
