Two films honored by SIGNIS at the BAFICI festival

(SIGNIS Argentina). The award winners at the 22nd edition of the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, BAFICI 2021, were announced on Saturday, 28 March.

The SIGNIS award to the best film goes to Mari, produced by Adriana Yurcovich y Mariana Turkieh, for capturing – through a respectful narrative – the common and hurtful universal reality of domestic violence and abuse against women. A film that truly captures this cultural pattern, repeated generation after generation, that can only be broken through the solidarity, education, charity, sincere friendship and the support of the community and family. A beautiful message of female emancipation, captured through a candid audiovisual language.

A special commendation is being given to Love behind the camera by Jamille Fortunato y Lara Beck Belov, for narrating with outstanding rhythm and pace, the story of a transformative love that inspires a celebrity couple’s public life and daily routine, from their youth to their elderly years – in the middle of the socio-cultural reality of 20th Century Brazil.

The members of the SIGNIS international jury were Pamela Aleman from Canada, Oscariny Hennig from Venezuela and Marcelo Fernandez from Argentina.
