SIGNIS Latin American and the Caribbean (SIGNIS ALC) elected a new Board of Directors on July 25, 2026, following a virtual General Assembly that brought together presidents and delegates from the organization’s 17 National Associations across the region.
The quadrennial assembly, held online, opened with remarks from outgoing President Carlos Ferraro, who welcomed participants and formally called the meeting to order. Father Rolando Calle then addressed delegates on the world’s current geopolitical landscape as it relates to the mission of the Catholic Church, offering proposals for how the association might respond in the years ahead.
The morning session concluded with the approval of the organization’s Management Report and Financial Report, as well as its Institutional Mandate for 2026–2030. The mandate outlines six priority areas for the coming term: strengthening institutional sustainability and consolidation; advocacy on public communication policy and engagement in international forums; participation in cooperation networks and strategic alliances; strategic communication, research and innovation; collaborative content production and the strengthening of Radio Lío; and educommunication, audiovisual communication and cultural innovation.
In the afternoon session, assembly members elected the association’s new Board of Directors for the 2026–2030 term. The incoming board is composed as follows:
President: Alessandro Gomes, SIGNIS Brazil; Vice President: Karina Benítez, SIGNIS Paraguay; First Principal Board Member: Rocío Mendoza, SIGNIS Peru; Second Principal Board Member: Adrián Baccaro, SIGNIS Argentina; Third Principal Board Member: Herminio Rebollo, SIGNIS Mexico; Fourth Principal Board Member: Desiree Lozano, SIGNIS Venezuela
The new board will lead SIGNIS ALC through 2030, overseeing implementation of the mandate approved by the assembly earlier in the day.
