At the 2025 Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) in Cluj-Napoca (June 12–21), the Ecumenical Jury awarded its prize to Peacock, directed by Bernhard Wenger (Germany/Austria, 2024). The jury cited the film’s layered, sharply performed look at the routines that can trap us and its invitation to choose authenticity over pretense—ultimately foregrounding hope.
A special Ecumenical Mention went to Rains Over Babel (Llueve sobre Babel) by Gala del Sol (Spain/Colombia, 2024), commended as a bold, creatively fashioned work that urges openness and care toward others.
This year’s jury comprised Anca Berlogea-Boariu and Nicolae Cara (Romania), Piero Loredan (Italy), and Praxedis Bouwman (The Netherlands).
The Transilvania International Film Festival, held in Cluj-Napoca from June 13 to 22, 2025, celebrated a diverse lineup of world and European cinema, blending established auteurs with emerging voices. Now in its 24th edition, TIFF has grown into Romania’s most prestigious film event and a prominent cultural fixture in Eastern Europe, known for its carefully curated competitions, vibrant public screenings, and commitment to dialogue between filmmakers and audiences. Alongside industry programs and community outreach, the festival continues to serve as a bridge between Romanian cinema and the global film scene.
