Friday, January 22, 2021 (SIGNIS). Fr Raphael Madu was born in Lagos State on September 28, 1955, and was ordained a Priest for the Owerri Archdiocese in Nigeria on July 9, 1983.
Fr Madu was the Director of Social Communications for the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) and, as such, attended the inauguration of SIGNIS Nigeria in 2010, where he was elected Assistant Treasurer. Fr Madu was later elected Vice-President of SIGNIS Africa, a position he held until 2014, and appointed Secretary General of the CSN by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria.
Fr Madu held a Masters Degree in Education majoring in Administration and Supervision from the Fordham University of New York and a PhD from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.
The late Rev Msgr Raphael Madu was laid to rest today at the Maria Assumpta Cathedral of Owerri.
